Actofive is developing a frame that could become either a pedal-assisted mountain bike or a non-assisted gearbox bike. Interchangeable drive mounts, battery storage and adjustable suspension make the concept unusually flexible, but it remains a development project rather than a confirmed production purchase.
Motor or gearbox
One configuration uses a Maxon Air S motor; the other accepts a Pinion Smart.Shift gearbox. In e-bike form, the downtube accommodates a removable 400 or 600 Wh battery. Without a battery, the same cavity becomes storage for tools and supplies.

The Maxon unit is described as weighing 2 kg and producing up to 90 Nm in maximum assistance. Published battery weights are 1.8 kg for 400 Wh and about a kilogram more for 600 Wh. Complete-bike and frame weights have not been announced.
Machined construction and wheel choices
The front triangle uses two CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminium shells bonded together. The rear triangle uses a splined spindle rather than a conventional bridge joining the lower arms, allowing the designers to tune its behaviour.

Proposed wheel configurations include 29/27.5-inch mixed wheels, full 29-inch wheels and even a 32-inch front with a 29-inch rear. Short and long rear-centre options are planned for the more conventional combinations.
Two travel settings
The Horst-link layout offers 170 mm rear travel with a 225 × 65 mm shock and 180 mm fork, or 150 mm rear travel with a 205 × 55 mm shock and 170 mm fork. A different lower shock mount accompanies the shock change.

A modular main-pivot bracket is intended to alter geometry and suspension characteristics. Exact axle-path and geometry figures were not available in the supplied report, so those adjustments should not yet be treated as a finished setup guide.
What happens next?
The September announcement targeted a rideable prototype later in 2026, with frame kits as the initial focus. Pricing and delivery dates were unconfirmed. South African riders interested in the idea should also ask about motor support, battery shipping and spares before considering a future order. This is concept coverage, not an availability announcement or a test ride.
